Cultural Explosion Event to Showcase Diversity at ODU

More than 20 student organizations will gather together to celebrate diversity at Old Dominion University's Cultural Explosion on March 27.

The campus-wide event, presented by the Office of Intercultural Relations, is designed to showcase cultural and Monarch pride.

Organizations will present seven-minute performances including cultural dances; spoken word; skits; video-theme presentations; and musical renditions. Monetary prizes are to be awarded in various categories.

Between presentations will be three-minute "cultural expressions" including Zumba® African HEAT, by Rita Cohen; Old Dominion student spoken word performances; Latin dance by student organization, WEPA; and Dynasty Dance Team.

"This is an opportunity for students to celebrate diversity," said Lesa Clark, executive director for ODU's Office of Intercultural Relations. "It's through events like this that they are expressing what it means to be a Monarch."

Cultural Explosion is from 6- 9p.m. in the Big Blue Room of the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

The event and food are free and open to the public.
