ODU President to Speak on Accountability Panel in D.C.

By Phil Walzer

Old Dominion University President John R. Broderick will speak about accountability in higher education at a national forum in Washington on March 21.

Broderick will participate in the Higher Education Policy Forum, a half-day program sponsored by the Education Commission of the States, which partners with policy leaders to share resources and expertise on critical education issues.

He will be among three speakers on the Accountability Panel. The others are Wil Del Pilar, vice president of higher education policy and practice for the Education Trust, and Sarah Speitzer, director of government relations for the American Council on Education.

The half-day forum will also include a session on affordability featuring Fran Bradford, deputy secretary of education in Virginia, and Zakiya Smith Ellis, New Jersey's secretary of higher education. The forum will be at the Grand Hyatt Washington.

"I am looking forward to participating in this program," Broderick said. "It's appropriate for policymakers and the public to demand accountability from colleges and universities using measures that take into account their unique missions."
