ODU’s Pretlow Planetarium to Host First Valentine’s Day Event

Old Dominion University's Pretlow Planetarium is hosting a Valentine's Day event called Star-Crossed Lovers, which is a special hour-long version of a classic show focusing on tales behind famous sights in the nighttime sky.

The event is Feb.14 from 7:00 to 9 p.m. For $30 a couple, you can enjoy snacks, classic love songs, couple's trivia with prizes, and timeless love stories written in the constellations. If the weather permits, one or two telescopes will be available for star gazing. The event is recommended for guests who are 18 and older.

"A planetarium can be a hidden romantic night-spot, and Valentine's Day seemed like a great time to showcase this," said Justin Mason, director of the Pretlow Planetarium. "One of the most romantic things you can do on a date is to stop and look at the stars together."

Free Parking will be provided at Parking Garage B on 43rd Street. Guests can park on floors two and up. To purchase tickets, visit the event's website.

ODU's Pretlow Planetarium is home to exciting extraterrestrial presentations. The planetarium offers school field trips to all grades, public planetarium shows, and even a venue for private functions.

The 40-foot domed planetarium is used by the introductory astronomy classes and for a variety of public presentations. Shows utilize a fully digital projector--the Digitalis Epsilon system--and feature 5.1 surround audio.
