ODU Math Awareness SIAM Conference

2022 Conference Registration Form

A zoom link will be provided in a few weeks prior to the conference.

Mathematics and Statistics Club (Math/Stat)

The Math/Stat Club is an organization that provides social, scholastic, and professional opportunities for students interested in mathematics and statistics. All ODU students are eligible for membership. Members meet at least once a month during fall and spring semesters.

Activities

Club members meet with other students as well as faculty members. Favorite events include the monthly meetings and the department picnic. Speakers are brought in to talk to the group about careers in math-related fields. This allows members to learn more about potential careers, develop their professional skills, and network with area business leaders. Students can also choose to give presentations. The Club in conjunction with the ODU Student Chapter of SIAM holds annual spring picnic in April. The Math/Stat Club also holds joint meetings with the ODU Student Chapter of SIAM.

What are you working on? Interested in talking about it? The Math/Stat club provides a great opportunity for students to both speak about their research

About Joining

If you are interested in joining the Math/Stat Club, email us. Membership to the club itself is free to all students of ODU, and highly encouraged. Feel free to visit our CampusGroups here.

SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics)

SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics) is an international organization which hosts publications and conferences in a wide range of fields. Its goal is to promote interactions between mathematics and other scientific and technological communities.

As a student chapter, we aim to:

  • to provide a forum for the discussion of applied mathematics research at ODU,
  • to promote interactions between undergraduate, graduate students, and researchers in applied mathematics
  • to make ODU students aware of prizes, conferences and other opportunities offered by SIAM.

What are you working on? Interested in talking about it? ODU SIAM chapter provides a great opportunity for students to both speak about their research and learn about the work being done by their peers. If you'd be willing to give a talk about your research and the math behind it or would just like to attend our annual joint conference, please contact us.

About Joining

If you are interested in joining the ODU SIAM chapter, email us. Membership to SIAM itself is free to all students of ODU, and highly encouraged. All members will receive monthly copies of SIAM News, and a yearly copy of SIAM Review. Members are also granted discounts on SIAM books, and journals. To find out more and sign up, feel free to visit our CampusGroups page here. Other benefits of joining SIAM are listed in this student memberships page.
