Dear Research Faculty,
To comply with new federal mandates under NSPM-33 and evolving agency requirements, all investigators engaged in federally funded research must now complete Research Security Training. This includes proposals submitted to the Department of Energy (DOE) effective May 1, 2025, with similar requirements expected soon from NSF, NIH, and DOD.
This training is a critical component of our collective responsibility to protect research integrity, ensure national security, and maintain eligibility for federal funding.
Why It Matters for ODU:
We are pleased to announce that the ODU Research Security Training Module is live and available to faculty, staff, students, and affiliated subcontractors engaged in federally funded research. This training is part of our institutional commitment to research integrity and security and fulfills evolving federal requirements under NSPM-33 and related agency guidance.
The module is based on a condensed, one-hour training developed collaboratively by the University of Michigan, Ohio State, Stanford, and Duke, designed to meet federal expectations efficiently and effectively.
You can access the module through the ODU Research Portal ( https://hera.odurf.odu.edu/RFPortal) located under My Research Training in the MyMenu Options on your portal homepage.
Please Note:
Researchers with active federal awards who have not yet completed the training will also be prompted when updating their Conflict of Interest (COI) Disclosure.
Thank you for your continued dedication to responsible and compliant research.
