Become an expert in breast imaging and cancer detection at an American College of Radiology Breast Imaging Center of Excellence in our fellowship.

A radiologist consults with a patient.

What sets us apart?

Use cutting-edge techniques as a fellow in ultrasound, MRI and digital mammography and tomosynthesis techniques for diagnostic and interventional radiology.

Working alongside fellowship-trained radiologists, our fellows provide patient services and can conduct research while training at a National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers-accredited facility, Sentara Leigh Comprehensive Breast Center.

Curriculum

Our fellows participate in active multidisciplinary conferences and rotate through surgery, pathology, plastics and radiation oncology. There is no night or weekend call duty. The fellowship includes training in:

  • Screening and diagnostic digital mammography
  • 3D digital breast tomosynthesis
  • Breast ultrasound
  • Breast MRI
  • Image-guided interventions using stereotactic, sonographic and MRI guidance

Research opportunities are also available to those with research interests. Dedicated breast-fellowship-trained radiologists supervise fellows.

Application Process

Applicants to the Breast Imaging Fellowship should be board certified or board eligible in Diagnostic Radiology.
