We Turn Research Into Real-World Solutions
At the Frank Batten College of Engineering and Technology, research drives innovation and prepares students to solve real-world challenges.
As part of an R1 university—a designation recognizing the highest level of research activity in the United States—students learn alongside faculty conducting impactful research from their first day on campus.
Together, they advance coastal resilience, healthcare innovations, maritime systems and national security while exploring areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics, advanced manufacturing and renewable energy.
Through research centers, laboratories and partnerships with industry, government and organizations such as NASA Langley Research Center and Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, students gain hands-on experience and help develop innovative solutions that benefit communities, industry and society.
