Ice Cream & Cake Social
This May, ODU Libraries welcomed the Monarch community to the 50th anniversary celebration of Perry Library. The 50 & Forward Ice Cream & Cake Social recognized the building’s official opening on May 17, 1976 (originally known as The New Library Building). The iconic building received a 76,000 square foot addition, which was completed and dedicated in 1999 in honor of Patricia W. and husband J. Douglas Perry. Interim University Libraries Dean Elizabeth Burns personally handed out scoops of ice cream at the event, and attendees, including Provost Brian Payne, recorded messages to wish Perry Library the very best… on the special day and in the years ahead!
