Old Dominion University (ODU) undergraduate student Amy Vinarao has emerged as a standout talent at the 2023 American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) Joint Annual Meeting (JAM). Vinarao, a dedicated Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) student in the College of Health Sciences, made her mark on the national stage during the awards ceremony.

The 2023 ASCLS JAM offered a diverse range of sessions covering various aspects of laboratory management, education, and practice. In addition to the valuable educational sessions, the conference provided opportunities for networking and socializing, including Trivia Night and the 2023 ASCLS JAM 5K Run. Vinarao found the experience enlightening, saying, "The 2023 ASCLS JAM was a positive, enjoyable experience! By attending the sessions provided throughout the week, I was able to expand my knowledge and have a better understanding of what it means to be a Medical Laboratory Scientist."

Vinarao went on to extend her thanks to the college's leadership team, including Dean Bonnie Van Lunen, PhD, Associate Dean and MLS program director Barbara Kraj, PhD, school chair Harold Riethman, PhD, and the lab manager Mr. Gordon Ward, for their support in facilitating her attendance at the conference.
