Join ODU's Research Computing Group for a series of hands-on workshops and learn more about UNIX shell, Python programming language and high-performance computing! These short workshops are targeted to those who are new to research computing.
We've split these topics into small, digestible events. Attend any (or all) of these workshops based on your need, interest and level of knowledge (no prior computational experience required). The goal of this workshop series is to present a basic introduction to research computing (with particular emphasis on ODU's Wahab cluster) job schedulers. Make sure you bring a laptop to gain hands-on experience with HPC clusters.
Workshops:UNIX Shell I
UNIX shell is an essential tool for interacting with the HPC clusters. We will introduce the shell and use basic UNIX commands (cp, mv, rm, ...) to work with files and directories. Geared to those who have never used UNIX shell.
Monday, January 27
11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Webb Center, Virginia Beach - Portsmouth rooms
UNIX Shell II
We will discuss pipes, filters, loops, shell scripts, and finding things. This workshop assumes basic understanding of UNIX shell, so if you need an introduction, join us for "UNIX Shell I" first.
