In a special luncheon hosted April 16th by the Old Dominion University Office of Equity and Diversity, President John R. Broderick presented students, faculty and staff with the annual John R. Broderick Champions of Diversity award.

This honor is awarded annually to members of the campus community who embody the school's commitment to diversity and inclusion. Old Dominion recognizes the inherent value of diversity and inclusion in the classroom, workplace and community with the presentation of Diversity Champion awards each year.

Designed to honor and celebrate individuals who encourage and advance the principles of inclusive excellence, the John R. Broderick Diversity Champion award promotes the positive impact diversity and inclusion has upon the university community.

Three members of the Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering were honored with this prestigious award.

Dr. Kim Bullington Sibson - Programs Manager and Advisor. Kim was recognized for her tireless support of international and non-traditional students in higher education and her promotion of educational opportunities for all.

Kevin Muchiri - Ph.D. Candidate and Graduate Assistant - honored for his work in promoting diversity and inclusion among his peers while serving as the Student Representative to the Board of Visitors.

Ziniya Zahedi - Master's Student, SEES Graduate Assistant, and President of the Bangladeshi Student Association, honored for her work with the international student community in promoting inclusive excellence.
