Student Spotlight: Haley Van Syckle

I had the honor to complete my Management Internship alongside Cathy Lewis working for Lewis Communications Group this summer. I co-hosted important conversations with Cathy Lewis about the pressing times we are facing as a community. I spent time planning and preparing virtual conversations for over 50 people, including business owners and well- known members of the community. I handled emails, calls, and day-to-day administrative work for Lewis Communications Group. Cathy looked to me as her right-hand and gave me many responsibilities. I was able to handle any task and not only complete it but surpass the standards required. Cathy Lewis is a certified CliftonStrengths Finder coach, so I had a lot of experience with the assessment, assisting people in taking it and configuring the data to get their results. The CliftonStrength Finders is an assessment that assists in improving and empowering people to perform better within their everyday life and in the workplace. COVID-19 did impact my internship but we overcame the inconvenience of not working face to face and were able to maintain business as usual virtually. I assisted Cathy in altering business plans in these unprecedented times during the pandemic. I enjoyed every minute of working alongside Cathy and learned so much. We worked well together, and she has asked me to continue working part time for Lewis Communications Group after my internship is over! I am looking forward to this opportunity.
