Old Dominion University exceeded its 2019 Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC) total by more than $700 during the 2020 effort.

ODU faculty and staff contributed $67,057 with 402 employees giving, said Ebony Drayton, the University's CVC coordinator. Of that, $8,545 went to the Rise to the Challenge campaign, which helps provide emergency aid to those in the Monarch community who face sudden challenges with travel, housing, food, technology, unemployment, health and wellness, and other expenses.

Approximately 1,000 other local, state, national and international organizations benefitted from CVC contributions.

"Old Dominion University has always been a kind and caring community, but that has never been more apparent than this past year as we coped with the impacts of COVID-19," ODU President John R. Broderick said. "I thank all who donated for their generosity. You truly made a difference."
