Art Department mourns the passing of Ken Daley, Emeritus Professor of Printmaking

The Art Department mourns the passing of the Ken Daley, Emeritus Professor of Printmaking from 1965 until his retirement in 2016. Ken was a respected teacher and influential presence in the arts community of Hampton Roads and a master craftsman in printmaking techniques, especially letterpress printing. He was also an incomparable wordsmith, who reveled in subtle, cerebral, and often witty word play. His prints, drawings, and neon pieces are in many prominent collections, including the Chrysler Museum, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and the New Jersey State Museum. The Gordon Galleries on campus have two of his neon pieces on permanent display. We lose in Ken a great artist, teacher, and mentor to many generations of students, a steward of the Art Department who served as Chair for a total of 15 years.

Those who wish may contribute to the Lorraine and Dr. H. William Fink Art Scholarship in honor of Ken Daley at this link.
