Health administrators plan, direct, and coordinate medical and health services. They might manage facilities, specific clinical areas and practices for groups of physicians. They facilitate direct changes that conform to changes in healthcare laws, regulations, and technology. Graduates of the Bachelors of Science in Health Sciences with a major in Health Services Administration will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to enhance the administration and the delivery of health services through healthcare management and policy education.

Medical and Health Services Managers
Plan, direct, or coordinate medical and health services in hospitals, clinics, managed care organizations, public health agencies, or similar organizations.

Determine and formulate policies and provide overall direction of companies or private and public sector organizations within guidelines set up by a board of directors or similar governing body. Plan, direct, or coordinate operational activities at the highest level of management with the help of subordinate executives and staff managers.
Requirements

ODU students who have completed all prerequisite courses with a C or better and meet the minimum cumulative GPA (2.00) requirement are admitted to the Bachelor of Science in Public Health program. Transfer students may complete the prerequisite courses at another college or university but are responsible for having a transfer credit evaluation completed by the transfer evaluation unit in the Office of Admissions to determine that transfer courses are equivalent and acceptable to Old Dominion University requirements. Admission is conducted on a rolling basis. Students who have met all program admissions requirements will be referred by their advisor in the Health Sciences Advising Center/ODU Online Health Sciences advisor to the program director for major declaration, program admission and assignment to a program advisor.
