Welcome from the Secretary-General
I wish to give a warm welcome to everyone from all of us in the Old Dominion University Model UN society to the 38th annual ODU Model United Nations Conference, ODUMUNC 2015, to be held Thursday-Sunday 19-22 February 2015.
Equal opportunity for all is the theme for the 2015. This comes in two forms: first, through international efforts to eliminate belittling of individual rights, where and whenever one person doesn't receive fair and equal treatment as another; and second, through internationals effort by the UN to improve the situation of everyone throughout the globe for a better present and a brighter future.
The ODUMUNC staff has been relentlessly preparing for ODUMUNC 38 to give you, delegates and sponsors, the best Model UN experience possible. Our General Assembly committees have been prepared to insure riveting debate and accurate depiction of the UN deliberations. GA committees are a great place for new delegates to start. This year we will feature the UN World Conference again, focusing on the problems of indigenous people throughout the world.
We have changed our crisis simulations to provide a different experience, introducing the Contemporary Crisis Cabinet and more Historical Crisis Committees.
ODUMUNC has hosted over 1000 delegates and sponsors for several years now, and going on annually for 38 years, continuing a tradition of excellence. We have been bringing together students from all over to a single place to advance the most important issues facing the world today, to find peaceful resolutions in the true spirit of the UN.
We encourage everyone to register early to assure your school the best possible country and committee assignments. Register on-line HERE!
See you in Norfolk, 19-22 February 2015.
