On Friday, February 20, the Division of Vascular Surgery, in collaboration with the Department of Surgery, hosted the Annual Dr. Eugene L. Lowenberg Endowed Lectureship.
This year’s featured speaker, Dr. John Eidt, MD, presented an inspiring lecture titled “Patients Leave a Scar on You.” His thoughtful and reflective presentation explored the lasting impact that patients have on surgeons, both professionally and personally. The lecture was followed by engaging case presentations delivered by vascular surgery fellows.
Faculty from the Divisions of Surgery and Vascular Surgery, along with medical students, residents, and fellows, were in attendance. The event provided an enriching educational experience and highlighted an important dimension of surgical practice that is not often discussed. Our trainees gained valuable insights into patient care, surgical outcomes, and the profound human connections formed in medicine.
The Dr. Eugene L. Lowenberg Endowed Lectureship was established through a generous gift from the Dr. Eugene E. Lowenberg Trust in tribute to Dr. Lowenberg’s enduring legacy in medicine and his longstanding connection to Hampton Roads.
