Mohan D. Pant, Ph.D.
Dr. Mohan Dev Pant is an Associate Professor of Data Science and Biostatistics at the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics & Environmental Health in the Joint School of Public Health at Old Dominion University. He holds Ph.D. in Statistics and Measurement and M.S. in Mathematics, both from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He is accredited as professional statistician (PStat) by the American Statistical Association (ASA). His research interests are in the fields of statistical computing, data science, biostatistics, applied mathematics and statistics, and Bayesian statistics.
Dr. Pant has published 30+ research articles in peer-reviewed journals and given research presentations at 40+ national/international conferences. With a strong foundation in both theoretical and applied statistics, he has contributed to a range of collaborative research projects in diverse fields (e.g., education, health sciences, healthcare, and Biomedical Sciences), providing actionable insights through data-driven strategies. In addition, he has worked with interdisciplinary teams to analyze data, interpret results, develop predictive models, and present findings to stakeholders.
Over the years, Dr. Pant has taught a wide variety of courses in Statistics, Data Science, and Research Methodology to graduate students. He has also mentored and advised several students at the graduate levels.
Dr. Pant is also active in the professional organizations, such as, American Statistical Association, American Public Health Association, and American Educational Research Association, continually staying updated on the latest statistical methodologies and technologies.
Dr. Pant has also served on the review panel of the National Science Foundation and as an ad-hoc reviewer of several scholarly journals.
He is also a member of the Fine Family Academy of VHS at ODU.
