TideBrass19 Faculty Recital Buddy Deshler, trumpet Samuel Huss, trumpet Dakota Corbliss, horn Kenneth Johnson, trombone Dr. Timothy Shade, euphonium Samuel Ambrose, tuba 7:00 pm, Friday, 6/28/19 Chandler Recital Hall Diehn Center for the Performing Arts F. Ludwig Diehn School of Music 1339 W. 49th Street Norfolk, VA Trumpet soloist Buddy Deshler is an ambassador for the transformative powers of the arts, champion of living composers, and agent for change in the instrumental music field. His bourgeoning career has taken him around the country, as well as internationally, and has allowed him to share the stage with ensembles such as the King���s Brass, The Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass, Foden's Band of Sandbach, Cheshire, his own Vice City Brass and Marquee Brass, and as of 2017, the illustrious Dallas Brass. Samuel Huss is in his first season with the Richmond Symphony as Principal Trumpet. Originally from Sanford, Michigan, Sam started out his life as a trumpeter after being given his mother���s trumpet in the fifth grade. In high school, Sam began his studies with Dr. Dennis Horton. Sam attended the Eastman School of Music and earned a Bachelor of Music Performance studying with James Thompson. Dakota Corbliss is an active educator and performer currently residing in the D.C. metro area. He frequently travels up and down the east coast as a freelance musician. Dakota's current titles include Acting Third Horn of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, Director of Operations and Program Development at FredBrass, as well as President and Artistic Director of the Tidewater Brass Institute. A native of Fredericksburg, Va, Kenneth Johnson is currently in the first year of pursuing a Master���s degree in Trombone Performance from Indiana University where he is studying with Peter Ellefson. He graduated Cum Laude from West Virginia University in 2013 with a Bachelor���s of Music Degree in Music Education. Dr. Timothy Shade is the currently Director of Bands at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. Previous appointments include Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Alhambra Orchestra (FL), Visiting Director of Orchestras at Florida Atlantic University, and Director of Instrumental Music at Bethel College (KS). He has garnered praise for his exciting programming, engaging personality and ���marvelous conducting.��� Samuel Ambrose turns back-row tuba playing into frontline artistry, bringing high-caliber style to performances, outreach, and educational experiences. His sound supports a variety of ensembles, most recently with the Fairfax Wind Symphony. Sam has also performed for the Sunrise Pops Orchestra in Sunrise, FL, as well as freelancing in the Baltimore/Washington area.
