The Teen Health 360 Teen Advisory Committee is a dynamic, youth-centered leadership group designed to elevate teen voices and strengthen the relevance of our programs. Open to students ages 16 and above — including high school, undergraduate, graduate, and medical students — the committee brings together diverse perspectives to inform and guide our work in adolescent health.
The committee plays a critical role in ensuring that Teen Health 360 initiatives reflect the real experiences, needs, and priorities of young people. By engaging youth as partners—not just participants — we promote meaningful, community-informed approaches to comprehensive sex education and adolescent health promotion.
What Members Do
Committee members meet monthly and actively contribute to program activities, including:
- Supporting the development and implementation of the annual Open Call (e.g., theme development, steering committee participation, judging submissions).
- Creating and reviewing youth-centered social media content.
- Assisting with program implementation tasks, such as data entry.
- Contributing ideas and feedback to ensure programs are relevant, inclusive, and engaging.
- Participating in collaborative problem-solving and innovative team-based solutions to advance adolescent health initiatives.
Peer Mentorship
The committee incorporates a layered mentorship structure, where MD and Graduate students serve as peer mentors to high school and undergraduate members through:
- Guidance and leadership development opportunities
- Academic and professional mentorship.
- A supportive environment for skill-building and collaboration
- Supporting session delivery of comprehensive sex education (CSE) through the Get Real TOE
Why It Matters
By integrating youth leadership into program development, the Teen Advisory Committee helps ensure that Teen Health 360 remains responsive, innovative, and grounded in the lived experiences of the communities we serve.
