Currently the YouAreWelcomeHere scholarships have been awarded.
 

The #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship program recognizes international students with a vision for embracing intercultural understanding. Beginning in Fall 2021, ODU will offer two annual, renewable scholarships for up to four years of study that cover 50% of tuition at the time of initial enrollment. The scholarships are open to first-year international students admitted for undergraduate degree-seeking study in all academic majors and fields of study and applied to tuition costs at ODU. Successful applicants will be dedicated to furthering the #YouAreWelcomeHere message by bridging intercultural divides. Applicants will submit a 500-1000 word written essay or a 2-5 minute video about their ideas for advancing intercultural learning and understanding at ODU.

  1. Apply for admission to ODU by April 15, 2022
  2. Submit the #YouAreWelcomeHere application to CGE@odu.edu by March 15, 2022
  3. If awarded a scholarship, claim it by submitting a tuition deposit to ODU by May 1, 202

  • Scholarship can be renewed for up to 4 years (Fall and Spring semesters only)
  • Participate in at least 10 hours of cultural sharing and engagement with the local community
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
  • Enroll and successfully complete a minimum of 12 credits for Fall and Spring semesters

  • Apply for admission to ODU before: April 15, 2022
  • Submit scholarship application before: Currently not available
  • Make enrollment deposit before: May 1, 2022

  • You are a first-year, undergraduate, international applicant of any major applying to Old Dominion University. International applicants are individuals intending to apply for an F-1 visa who hold citizenship in a country outside the U.S. and who don't also possess U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
  • You demonstrate interest and initiative in leadership and intercultural learning.
  • You meet the admission criteria and adhere to the deadlines at Old Dominion University.
  • You complete a scholarship application and a 500-1,000 word essay or a two-to-five minute video describing your ideas for advancing intercultural learning and understanding at ODU, and how you plan to apply your ideas at the school you are applying to.
