*Wednesday August 19th in the Potomac York room will be the first student session.

Turning the Tide: Healing Art Project, will be a bimonthly space for ODU students and staff to visually express feelings about community violence potentially brought on due to returning to campus, the re-opening of Constant Hall, and the post-6-month mark of the March 12th campus shooting.

This is more of a class or workshop, where the focus is on learning new skills for managing emotions and expression through artistic process and materials. The hope for this experience is to provide space for ODU students and staff/faculty who have been directly or indirectly impacted by community violence, to visually express their feelings in a semi-structured open studio. While this is not therapy, I am a therapist and can assist you with connecting to additional care if desired. This project will be primarily conducted with art making, though no prior art experience is needed, and I will provide demonstrations and assistance with use of art materials.
