Please register and attend the exclusive screening of the insightful documentary "Taking Care," highlighting the emotional journey of acclaimed filmmakers Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller Rogen as they navigate the complexities and heartbreak of Lauren’s mother’s advancing Alzheimer’s disease.

The in-person only screening will be followed by a time for reflection and a round table of experts moderated by Ms. Katie McDonough, LCSW, Executive Director, Alzheimer Association-Southeastern Virginia Chapter. Roundtable participants include:

Mr. Jay Vergara, RN BSN-Nurse, caregiver for grandmother, founder of the Filipino Alzheimer’s Support Group in Virginia Beach, sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association which aims to raise awareness, resources and offers culturally sensitive support within the Filipino community

Mrs. Carol Turner, a wife, mother proud grandmother, and a devoted caregiver for her mother and aunt. She made history in 2021 as the first African American participant in the nation to join the EVMS AHEAD Study.  She serves on the Community Advisory Board (CAB), encouraging participation from communities where research data is lacking

Mr. Jim Morton, caregiver for his wife, community advocate and Alzheimer’s Association volunteer and board member.

Dr. Hamid Okhravi, Medical Director, The Lawrence Goldrich Institute for Integrated Neuro Health and the Comprehensive Memory Center, Virginia Health Sciences Old Dominion University and board member for the National Alzheimer’s Association.

Parking:

Parking in Visitor Lot B off Fairfax Avenue or in the Parking Garage A accessed from Wagner Road, a short street between Olney Road and Fairfax Avenue. See Map. Parking fees are $1.00 per hour with first hour free however, gates are left open after 8 pm so if you exit after 8, parking is free.

Waitzer Hall is the 10-story building situated at the corner of Colley Avenue and Brambleton Avenue. The entrance to Waitzer Hall is facing north behind Andrews Hall located off Fairfax Avenue.
