Adobe CQ Web CMS Reference:Creating Links

One of the benefits of using a Web content management system is its ability to track links to other pages in the system as well as to digital assets such as PDFs and images.

Adobe CQ permits linking to internal pages, internal assets and external pages and assets. It is important to know which components allow which types of links and how to properly create these links.

Guides to each type of link can be reached using the links to the right.

Linking to Other Pages on the ODU Website

When you create links to other pages on the ODU website (www.odu.edu), you must use the CQ path. Using the CQ path allows CQ to track the link and prevents the user from encountering "404 Page Not Found" errors. If the page moves, your link will automatically be updated. If the page is deactivated, the link will disappear.

Properly Formed CQ Path

Example: A link to ODU Home > University Life > Getting Involved

Correct

/life/gettinginvolved

Incorrect

http://www.odu.edu/life/gettinginvolved
