The Red Shield Golf Classic at the Cedar Point Country Club benefits H.O.P.E Village, a residential housing program that offers a full spectrum of supportive services to low and moderate-income single women and women with children in need of a stable housing environment.
The focus of this housing program is to remove the barriers to self-sufficiency. We can house three mothers, 12 children, and 11 singles at any given time. Programs and services are flexible and can be individualized and tailored to the needs of each woman and her family in order to aid in the transition from homelessness to independent living. Life skills, employment and education are the primary focus of an intense, weekly support program for each resident. Since 2009, H.O.P.E Village has served 167 women and 84 children. In the last year, we have assisted 20 women with continuing their education through trade school and college courses and currently hold a 100% employment rate for the women in the program. With the help of the proceeds from the Golf Classic, we can sustain the success rates that we have been able achieve for almost a decade.
The tournament is a Four Person Modified Florida Best Ball (5 flights, post flighted). The tournament is limited to the first 25 teams to register with payment. A Pre-Classic luncheon is served on The Club Patio and a Post Classic awards reception and banquet is served in The Clubhouse.
