NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. ENROLLMENT DOES NOT IMPROVE ODDS OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
DATES
The Old Dominion University Code4PizzaODU (the "Promotion") is being held by Old Dominion University ("ODU"). The Promotion begins at 12:01am Eastern Time ("ET") on Monday, February 28, 2022, and closes at 11:59pm Eastern Time ("ET") on Friday, March 11, 2022 (the "Promotion Period"). Entries received other than during the Promotion Period will be disqualified.
ELIGIBILITY
Purchase, enrollment/application is NOT necessary to enter or win. The Promotion is void wherever prohibited or restricted. All applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. The Promotion is open only to high schools in the state of Virginia during the Promotion period. An entity who complies with all the eligibility rules to play the game shall be referred to as "Participant." A school who complies with all the eligibility rules shall be referred to as "Entrant." Non-compliance with these Official Rules shall result in disqualification from the Promotion.
PRIZES
One (1) first-place winner will receive one (1) $1250 Papa John's gift card. One (1) second-place winner will receive one (1) $1000 Papa John's gift card. One (1) third-place winner will receive one (1) $750 Papa John's gift card. Each winner is responsible for the reporting and payment of all state, federal, and local taxes applicable to the receipt of a prize. No transfer, assignment, cash redemption, or substitution of a prize is permitted except that ODU reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to substitute a prize with a prize of comparable or greater value or cash value. In the event that a prize cannot be awarded for any reason, or a winner is not capable of redeeming a prize for any reason, ODU shall not be obligated to award any prize. If, for any reason, more than the stated number of prizes are claimed, ODU reserves the right to award the prizes in such category by random drawing from among eligible prize claimants in such prize category or in a manner to be determined by ODU in its sole and absolute discretion. All decisions of ODU relating to this Promotion will be final.
HOW TO ENTER
To enter, Virginia high school students complete a coding tutorial at Code4PizzaODU, and upon completion will select their high school from the menu provided. At the end of the Promotion, the high schools with the most completions assigned to their school will be awarded a first-, second-, or third-place ranking based on number of completions. The award of a prize is contingent upon Entrant complying with all conditions and fulfilling all requirements set forth herein. Entries must include all the required information as set forth in the submission form and herein or will be deemed ineligible.
WINNER SELECTION
Between March 14 through March 18, winners will be selected from among all eligible entries received. If the "home school" category wins, all individuals in that category will be notified via email through email address supplied during the Promotion entry and will be asked to provide the full name of their home school co-op within a specific time period. Of all home school co-ops submitted, one potential winner will be selected at random from among all eligible entries received. Home schools not associated with a co-op are not eligible for prizes. The odds of being selected as a potential winner depend on the number of eligible entries received. Winners will be announced by March 31, 2022.
HOW TO CLAIM PRIZE
Potential winners will be notified via email via contact information found on the respective school's website. They will be asked to provide a point-of-contact, full name, physical address, and mailing address within a specific time period. Prizes will be mailed or hand-delivered within four (4) weeks of receipt of winner's details. If a potential winner cannot be contacted within three (3) days of the first attempt to contact the school or does not respond within the timeframe stated in the notification, ODU may select an alternate potential winner in its place.
PRIVACY AND PUBLICITY
ODU will collect optional, personal data from Participants, and this information may be used for the purposes of administering the Promotion, publicizing the Promotion (including in connection with the announcement of winners) or Dollar Tree, and otherwise in accordance with ODU's policies and procedures (available at ODU Policies & Procedures). Unless prohibited by law, participation in the Promotion constitutes each Participant's consent for Dollar Tree to use the Participant's first name and last initial (or username), for promotional purposes worldwide, in any media now known or later developed, without additional payment or consideration to the Participant.
GENERAL RELEASE AND WAIVER OF CLAIMS
By participating in the Promotion, each Participant and Entrant agrees (for himself/herself and his/her heirs) to release and hold harmless the Promotion Entities and each such company's respective officers, directors, employees, and agents (collectively, the "Released Parties") from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Promotion or receipt or use of any prize, including, but not limited to: (1) unauthorized human intervention in the Promotion; (b) technical or printing errors; (c) lost, late, postage-due, garbled, illegible, misdirected or undeliverable mail or email; (d) errors in the administration of the Promotion or the processing of entries; or (e) injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from participation in the Promotion or receipt or use of any prize. Entrant and Participants further agree that in any cause of action, the Released Parties' liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the Promotion, and in no event shall the Released Parties be liable for attorneys' fees.
DISPUTES
Except where prohibited, Participants agree that any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of the Promotion or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in the city of Norfolk in the Commonwealth of Virginia. All issues and questions concerning these Official Rules, your rights and obligations, or ODU's rights and obligations shall be governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
ODU reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to disqualify any individual found to be tampering with the entry process, submitting multiple entries using different email addresses or the operation of the Promotion; to be acting in violation of these Official Rules; or to be acting in a non-sportsmanlike or disruptive manner; or with intent or apparent intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, embarrass, harm, or harass, in any way, any other person. If for any reason the Promotion is not capable of running as planned by reason of, but not limited to, business or market circumstances, force majeure, public health concerns, tampering, unauthorized intervention, actions by entrants and participants, fraud, or any other cause which, ODU in its sole and absolute discretion, deems could affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Promotion, ODU reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Promotion by posting a notice on its website. If the Promotion is terminated before the end of the Promotion Period, ODU will select potential winners from all eligible entries received as of the termination date of the Promotion. ODU's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that or any other provision. In the event that an entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost, or destroyed, Participant's sole remedy shall be another entry into the Promotion. If any provision of these Official Rules is held to be IN NO EVENT WILL ODU OR ANY RELEASEE BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY INJURIES, CLAIMS, ACTIONS, DAMAGES, LOSSES, OR LIABILITY OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES RESULTING FROM OR ARISING FROM PARTICIPATION IN, OR THE PRODUCTION, PROMOTION, OR ADMINISTRATION OF, THE PROMOTION, OR ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, USE, MISUSE, OR NONUSE OF A PRIZE THAT MAY BE AWARDED. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, ALL PRIZES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. SOME JURISDICTIONS MAY NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OR EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. CHECK YOUR LOCAL LAWS FOR ANY RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATIONS REGARDING THESE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS. ANY ATTEMPT BY A PARTICIPANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE PROMOTION MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS, AND SHOULD ANY SUCH ATTEMPT BE MADE, DOLLAR TREE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
DISCLOSURE OF WINNERS
To receive notification of the winning school's names, send a self-addressed and stamped envelope marked "Old Dominion University #Code4PizzaODU" on the back of the envelope to: Strategic Communication & Marketing, 1 Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA 23529. Contest winners will also be posted online within the Official Rules.
