ODU UAV TEAM PLACES 4TH IN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
The ODU Unmanned Aerial Vehicle team, under the guidance of Drs. Chung-Hao Chen and Filip Cuckov in the department of electrical and computer engineering, placed 4th overall in the recent IARC Robotics Competition for unmanned aerial vehicle systems. The result was stunning over international competition in ODU's first year.
The team, comprised of Batten College of Engineering and Technology students John LeVous, Julie Hoven, Garibe Mohammed-Jones, Brandon Ordway, Victor Habgood, Haole Guo and Abdul Alotaibi, was interviewed and appeared on the local ABC affiliate news as well as a local North Dakota (Grand Forks Herald) newspaper front page. An article including the team's opinion of drones and other aerial vehicles are to be included in a future article of The New Republic. Local news stations in the Hampton Roads Area have been informed as well.
