President's Contract Extended an Additional Two Years, to 2017
The Old Dominion University Board of Visitors voted unanimously to extend President John R. Broderick's contract by an additional two years, to 2017, at its meeting on Thursday, June 14.
"On behalf of the entire Old Dominion University Board of Visitors, I would like to publicly thank President Broderick for the exemplary job he has done," said Rector David L. Bernd.
Broderick, who has served as the university's eighth president since 2008, is credited for a number of initiatives that have enhanced the university's profile, including creating an enrollment management plan, a new division and state-of-the-art facilities for student success, the Business Gateway, and the Climate Change and Sea Level Rise Initiative.
He also has been recognized for strengthening the university's prominence in modeling and simulation, bioelectrics and ports/maritime research areas. Additionally, under Broderick's leadership, the university has been named a "Great Place to Work" by The Chronicle of Higher Education.
