Under the Waves Films To Be Shown Under the Stars at ODU
Old Dominion University's Marine Biology Student Association will present "Under a Sea of Stars: A Series of Marine Conservation Short Films" in an open-air setting at the Quad residence area at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 14.
There will be no charge for this public showing of the films, or for the refreshments that will be available. The event is co-sponsored by Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society, the Big Blue Brew Crew and Pepsi.
The films to be shown are a subset of short films that debuted in Norfolk last month at the Under the Waves Film Festival associated with the 41st annual Benthic Ecology Meeting, one of the largest scientific meetings for marine biologists in the United States. Mark Butler, ODU professor and eminent scholar of biological sciences, chaired the conference, which was attended by 600 scientists and students.
Another presentation of Under the Waves films will be Wednesday, April 18, at the Naro Expanded Cinema on Colley Avenue in Norfolk. The Naro event, which will be from 7:15-9 p.m., is also free and open to the public.
