'Too Big to Fail' Author Andrew Ross Sorkin to Address Economics Club of Hampton Roads

Author and CNBC host Andrew Ross Sorkin will be the next Economics Club of Hampton Roads speaker on Wednesday, April 18, at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott.

Sorkin is the author of "Too Big to Fail: The Inside Story of How Wall Street and Washington Fought to Save the Financial System - and Themselves." He is co-host of "Squawk Box" on CNBC and a New York Times columnist and chief mergers and acquisitions reporter. He is also the founder and editor of DealBook.

"Too Big to Fail" is an overview of the early stages of the financial crisis that led to the decision to create the Troubled Asset Relief Program. Chronicling the events of the 2008 financial crisis and the collapse of Lehman Brothers, the book looks at the strategic decisions made by business titans and government leaders as the economy hung in the balance. It was adapted in 2011 for the HBO television movie "Too Big to Fail."

The Economics Club program begins with a 3:45-4:30 p.m. cocktail reception. Sorkin will speak from 4:30-5:30 p.m. during the dinner, followed by dessert and networking time. Co-sponsored by ODU's Access EU program, the event is free for Economics Club members and $50 for non-members. To register, go to http://toobigtofail.eventbrite.com/.

The Economics Club of Hampton Roads is an organization for business and government executives and community leaders who share an interest in the practical implications of economic principles, trends and events. It was established in 1991 as a community service by former ODU President James V. Koch, and is administered by the dean of the College of Business and Public Administration, under the supervision of an elected board.
