EM STUDENT AKERS GOING FROM FIFE & DRUMS TO WINDMILL
Building things and solving problems are two of Walt Akers' favorite things, and he has gotten to use both extensively in his role as a community volunteer.
Akers, 48, is a familiar face around Yorktown in several roles.
His day job is as a project manager and engineer at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. He earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from Park University, a master's degree in project management from Western Carolina University and is currently pursuing a doctorate in engineering management at Old Dominion University.
Akers lives in Seaford with his wife, Evelyn, and has a daughter and a son.
