Seven Faculty Members Get Proposal Preparation Aid

The Old Dominion University Office of Research has announced seven recipients of the Faculty Proposal Preparation Program (FP3) for fall 2012.

The FP3 recipients will be released from teaching one course during the semester so they can devote time to preparing extramural grant proposals.

Recipients are:

• Katrina Miller-Stevens, assistant professor of urban studies and public administration, College of Business and Public Administration

• John McManus, assistant professor of English, College of Arts and Letters

• Ann Bruhn, assistant professor of dental hygiene, College of Health Sciences

• Christian Zemlin, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, Frank Batten College of Engineering and Technology

• Bonnie Van Lunen, associate professor of human movement sciences, Darden College of Education

• Tamer Nadeem, assistant professor of computer science, College of Sciences

• Holly Gaff, assistant professor of biological sciences, College of Sciences.

The goal of FP3 is to help faculty submit high-quality, competitive proposals to external funding agencies by financially assisting the colleges to release a faculty member from one course of their teaching commitment in the fall or spring semesters.

Deans may nominate up to two tenure-track faculty members for participation in the program each semester. To be eligible, faculty members must have a well-formulated and meritorious project that has already undergone internal review, but for which funding has not yet been sought or achieved.
