INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL WILL BRING THE WORLD TO ODU

Journey around the world, without even leaving Hampton Roads.

On Sunday, April 1, Old Dominion University will host its fourth annual International Festival from noon to 5 p.m. at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

The free event, which attracts thousands of participants and attendees each year, is sponsored by ODU's Office of Intercultural Relations and will be hosted by WTKR-TV news anchor Kurt Williams.

Visitors can watch cultural performances and view exhibits from around the globe, dine on delicacies from local ethnic restaurants and browse the merchandise at the international marketplace in the lobby of the Ted.

There will be performances by the African Caribbean Association, Belly Dance Navel Academy, Flores Flamenco Dance Ensemble, Shir Darom Jewish Community Chorus of Hampton Roads and many others.

At the Global Food Court, food vendors will include Bangkok Garden (Thai), Grapevine Restaurant (Greek) and Mayflower Café (Turkish).

An International Children's Activity Arena will feature activities and interactive educational stations. The little ones can also play in the Big Blue Inflatables Room and visit the outdoor petting zoo. These events will take place in the Big Blue Room.

Almost 50 ODU student organizations are slated to take part in the International Festival.

All of the activities are free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the 43rd and 45th parking garages. Food and merchandise will be on sale. For more information call the Office of Intercultural Relations at 683-4406 or visit the International Festival website at http://studentaffairs.odu.edu/oir/programs/intfestival/.
