A DISTINGUISHED HONOR FOR ECE PROFESSOR
Ravindra Joshi, professor of electrical and computer engineering, has been named a Distinguished Lecturer, effective 2012, by the Nuclear & Plasma Science Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The IEEE Distinguished Lecturer award is typically made on the basis of significant scientific contributions in a particular field. In this capacity, he could be invited to give presentations on his research at various IEEE chapters as well as other universities around the country.
Over the past decade, Dr. Joshi has made several contributions to the area of bioelectrics, especially bio-physical modeling and the understanding of cellular processes driven by high electric fields. He has authored or co-authored more than 135 papers in international journals, and mentored over 45 graduate students. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, a University Professor and Eminent Scholar at ODU, and also received recognition in teaching including the Tonelson, Most Inspiring Faculty, and Shining Star awards.
