MAE'S BAO AT WORLD MARINETECH SUMMIT

At the Second Annual World MarineTech Summit, which took place in Busan, South Korea, on September 22, 2011, Dr. Han Bao, Mitsubishi Kasei Chair of Manufacturing Engineering and Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, acted as the keynote forum moderator. Hosting speakers from five countries, the summit provided a global perspective for the future of shipping and the marine industry. Participants joined the summit from more than 20 countries around the world and representing organizations and corporations from across the field of maritime science and technology.

Bao, the director of ODU's Ship Maintenance, Repairs, and Operations Institute, also chaired a session on Ship Maintenance and Repair. During this session, he presented his paper on ship maintenance strategies.

The general theme of this summit was "New Maritime Dimension in Low Carbon Era", a fitting description of the general trend for future green ship building and operation.

The MarineTech Summit is an annual event for professionals involved in maritime science and technology. It aims to offer them a multidisciplinary platform to discuss the latest advances in research and the current industry standards. Participants will explore the different research, business and investment activities occurring throughout the global marine technology community.
