DEAN'S CORNER
This month, the Frank Batten College of Engineering & Technology celebrated its seventh State of the College Address. It was my great honor to be able to share with not only our faculty and staff but also our guests from around the University the significant strides we have made as a College in the past year.
I was most delighted to be able to introduce our newly joined faculty to the College. I would like to take this opportunity to again welcome those newest members of our academic team and re-introduce them each as one of us!
Dr. Michel Audette, Assistant Professor of Modeling, Simulation and Visualization Engineering, received a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical), in 2002 and 1986 respectively, from McGill University and a Master's in Engineering (Electrical) from EcolePolytechnique in 1992. Previously he was a Research Engineer at Kitware, Inc.
Dr. Chung-Hao Chen, Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and a Graduate Certificate in Applied Statistical Strategies, in 2009 and 2008 respectively, from the University of Tennessee and an M.S. and B.S. in Computer Science and Information Engineering, in 1999 and 1997 respectively, from Fu-Jen Catholic University, Taiwan. Previously he was Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at North Carolina Central University.
Mr. David P. Devine, Lecturer of Engineering Technology, received an M.S. in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. Previously he was a Visiting Instructor at Trine University and Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Civil Engineering program at the University of Notre Dame.
Dr. Kahn Iftekharuddin, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Director of Computational Intelligence and Machine Vision Laboratory, received a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering, in 1995 and 1991 respectively, from the University of Dayton. Previously he was an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Bioimaging at the University of Memphis.
Dr. Jonathan M. Lester, Lecturer of Engineering Technology, received a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Civil Engineering, in 2003, and 1997 respectively, from West Virginia University and a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1992 from Virginia Military Institute. Previously he was a Mission Assurance Officer at U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command and an Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Engineering Technology Department at Old Dominion University.
Dr. Sylvain Marsillac, Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, received a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering and a B.S. in Physics and Chemistry, in 1996, 1993 and 1992 respectively, from the University of Nantes, France. Previously he was an Associate Professor of Physics and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toledo.
strong> Dr. ManWo Ng, Assistant Professor of Modeling, Simulation and Visualization Engineering, received a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering Transportation and an M.S. in Statistics in 2010 from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics and B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, in 2005 and 2002 respectively, from Delft University of Technology. Previously he was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Xixi Wang, Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, received a Ph.D. in Agriculture Engineering in 2001 from Iowa State University and an M.S. and B.S. in Civil Engineering, in 1993 and 1989 respectively, from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. Previously he was an Assistant Professor of Hydrology and Watershed Engineering in the Department of Engineering and Physics at Tarleton State University.
Dr. Christian Zemlin, Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, received a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics in 2002 from Humboldt-University Berlin and an M.Sc. Physics, a B. Sc. Mathematics and a B.Sc. Physics, in 1998 and 1994 respectively, from Technical University Berlin. Previously he was a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at SUNY Upstate Medical University and also a Research Assistant Professor and Adjunct Professor at Syracuse University.
