TRANSPORTATION JOURNAL'S IMPACT FACTOR ON THE RISE

As Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems (JITS), Asad J. Khattak, the Frank Batten Endowed Chair Professor in the civil and environmental engineering department and director for the Transportation Research Institute, was thrilled to discover that the journal had an increase in its impact factor. For a journal, the impact factor provides a quantitative tool for evaluation and can be considered to be the average number of times published papers are cited up to two years after publication.

The JITS impact factor is 1.273 for 2010, with the five-year impact factor at 1.378. Once again, this places JITS as one of the highly ranked journals in the growing field of intelligent transportation systems. Among all transportation science and technology journals, it is ranked 9th out of 26, based on 2010 Thomson Reuters, Journal Citation Reports.

The editors are working to further increase the visibility and awareness of JITS by posting free links to the top-cited and top-downloaded articles of 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. All All papers appearing in JITS are available online at: http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/titles/15472450.asp
