Ocean Energy Forum on ODU Campus Today

A meeting of state and national officials who are responsible for the development of offshore wind farms and other ocean energy projects began at Old Dominion University this morning and will conclude with a question-and-answer session open to the public from 12:45-1:30 p.m.

The Virginia Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) Offshore Alternative Energy Programs (OAEP) sponsored the forum, which is in Webb University Center on the ODU campus. 

Speakers and session leaders were to include Ned Farquhar, deputy assistant secretary for land and minerals management for the U.S. Department of the Interior; Maureen Matsen, deputy secretary of natural resources and senior advisor on energy to Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell; George Detweiler, project officer, U.S. Coast Guard; George Hagerman, Virginia Tech Advance Research Institute; and these officials with BOEMRE OAEP: Maureen Bornholdt, program manager; Jean Thurston, environmental review branch; Stephen Creed, GIS specialist; Erin Trager, Virginia project coordinator; Jenn Golladay; and Darryl Francois, chief, Projects and Coordination Branch.

The public session will begin at 12:45 p.m. and be held in the Chesapeake/Portsmouth/Virginia Room.
