ODU Announces Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management

Jane H. Dané, dean of enrollment management at Salisbury University in Maryland, has been hired as Old Dominion University's new associate vice president for enrollment management. She served as dean for 11 years at Salisbury, a comprehensive public university on Maryland's Eastern Shore with an enrollment of 8,400 students.

Dané contributed to the planning culture and recent decade of achievements at SU, such as increasing the number of enrolled students by nearly a third, doubling ethnic diversity, and increasing class academic profiles. These accomplishments have assisted the university to be ranked in numerous national guidebooks. To highlight those accomplishments, U.S. News & World Report recently named Salisbury one of America's Best Colleges for the 14th year.

Ellen Neufeldt, vice president for student engagement and enrollment services, said that ODU is fortunate to have Dané come on board. "Her past experience, success, and leadership in the areas of recruitment and retention along with her leadership in overall enrollment planning will be a great asset for ODU," she said.

As dean of enrollment management, Dané supervised four areas: admissions, career services, financial aid and the registrar's office. She also led campus-wide initiatives for retention. Prior to 2000, she served as dean of admissions and financial aid at SU, directing undergraduate and graduate admissions and supervising the financial aid office.

As the chief enrollment leader, Dané contributed to the creation, implementation and evaluation of Salisbury's first Strategic Enrollment Plan, a campus-wide initiative that connected enrollment and resource planning to achieve the goals of SU's Strategic Plan.

Dané said she is excited to see that the university embraces active student learning and research in a modern way, and she is impressed with the development of ODU's residential campus.
