ODU'S EZELL SPEAKS ABOUT CYBER THREATS ON 'WITH GOOD REASON'

When it comes to national security threats, Old Dominion University researcher Barry Ezell says the possibility of cyber-attacks keeps him awake at night. Ezell, research associate professor at ODU's Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center (VMASC), said the computers that control our gas plants, water supply and energy grid are old and unprotected.

Ezell, who was VMASC's project leader on the recently completed full-scale exercise of disaster preparedness by Virginia's Office of Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security, was recently a guest on the radio program "With Good Reason" to speak about cyber threats. Ezell was joined on the program by other experts in the field of telecommunication threats, including Curtis Holsopple of Virginia State University and David Smith and Jeffrey Plant of the University of Virginia."With Good Reason" airs weekly on public radio stations, reaching a diverse audience in Virginia, Washington, D.C., and portions of Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Michigan, California and Alaska.

Audio files of the full program and its companion news feature were posted the week of the show to the ODU website. A permanent link can be found here:
