Fraternity Fund-Raiser: ODU Chapter Takes on Brothers from VCU
Old Dominion University fraternity Pi Kappa Alpha has challenged its brother fraternity at Virginia Commonwealth University to a fund-raising competition. All benefits go to the Roc Solid Foundation - a charity that builds playgrounds for kids with cancer - http://www.rocsolidfoundation.org/.
In September, Pi Kappa Alpha will build a playground in southeastern Virginia.
The brothers had collection tables in Webb Center, Rogers Hall and Whitehurst Hall on Thursday, April 7. ODU President John R. Broderick donated the ceremonial first dollar toward their $10,000 goal.
On Friday, April 8, the brothers will have collection tables at Scotland House, Dominion House and Mojo Bones from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. On Saturday, April 9, the fraternity will have a party, cookout and raffle fundraiser at Ocean Mystique Norfolk from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
"We are excited to raise funds for the Roc Solid Foundation. We can have an impact in our local community and make a difference in the lives of kids in Hampton Roads," said Pi Kappa Alpha fund-raiser organizer Mike Schneider.
The fund-raising competition ends Saturday evening. For information or to donate, contact Schneider at 540-907-6212 or fellow Pi Kappa Alpha member Pat Lewia at 703-587-0686.
