Campus Community Campaign Sets Sights on Reaching $203,000 Goal by May 6

Old Dominion faculty and staff have until Friday, May 6, to contribute to the 2011 Campus Community Campaign, the university's annual fund drive.

The campaign, which kicked off in late March, has adopted the theme - "One University. One Team!" - with the ultimate goal of making a difference for ODU students, as well as employees.

The goals for 2011 are: $203,000 in contributions and the participation of at least 925 donors, which is equal to 44 percent of all full-time employees.

All members of the campus community are encouraged to participate in the campaign, also known as the Dominion Fund. Co-chairs Ali Ardalan, associate dean of the College of Business and Public Administration, and Patricia King, landscape architect, noted that, in addition to having the opportunity to fulfill their career objectives at ODU, they, like many of their colleagues at the university, have "gained a second family" here.

"As co-chairs of this important campaign, we believe that an ODU employee is someone who rises to the challenge and works hard to move the university to higher levels. By making a gift, you can boost your already immense efforts and move our campus to an ever better place," they said.

"Give to the Campus Community Campaign today and invest in ODU's future. You can improve the university as a whole by making an unrestricted gift, or you can improve a favorite area by making a designated gift."

Those who made a gift to the campaign last year received a special treat via campus mail to thank them, along with the message: "Your gift last year was a Skor for ODU - thank you! We hope that you will continue your support this year!"

Gifts to the 2011 campaign may be made via payroll deduction, check or credit card, and designated for university priorities (unrestricted funds), athletic priorities or "other." Contributions in the "other" category may be targeted, for example, to a college or department, the library, a specific sports program, a specific academic or athletic scholarship, or the Alumni Association, to name a few.

Employees who contribute $100 or more will automatically be entered in a drawing to win a paid reserved parking space for one year. Also at the end of the campaign, an ice cream party will be awarded to the first vice presidential unit or college to reach 100 percent participation, and to the first unit or college with the highest donor participation rate.

The 2011 campaign volunteer coordinators are: Debbie Bauman, Debra Bell, Berndt Bohm, Judy Bowman, Jenny Caja, Dan Campbell, Linda Lopez Caulkins, Kimberly Cholewinski, Katrina Davenport, Dawn Hall, Bill Heffelfinger, Ardena Jordan, Katie Keifner, Patricia King, Angela Luettel, Trinity Massey, Donna Meeks, Carlisa Merritt, Bill Owings, Dawn Richardson, Felicia Samuel, Lisa Sisson, Andrea Stephen, William Whidbee, Anita Wiggins-Bailey, Kathy Williamson and Robert Wojtowicz.
