JOHN HARRIMAN, ME GRAD – NEWLY APPOINTED DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING, SMITHGROUP IN DC

John Harriman, PE, LEED AP, has been appointed Director of Engineering at SmithGroup in Washington, DC. He will lead a group of thirty mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineers at one of the area's leading architecture and engineering firms.

According to Office Director Russell Perry, FAIA, LEED AP, "John exemplifies our commitment to fully integrated services. He understands that when we practice seamlessly across disciplines, our clients receive the highest value. We are fortunate to have such a powerful advocate for interdisciplinary practice as our new Director of Engineering."

Harriman has helped deliver innovative engineering solutions to a wide range of clients. He is the program manager for the U.S. Department of State where he is working on several projects at compounds around the world. Harriman led part of the engineering system design at the Defense Intelligence Analysis Center, which houses the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. He also worked on the modernization of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, and the 2.1M gross-square-foot repositioning of Constitution Center, Washington's largest LEED Gold private sector complex.

Harriman joined SmithGroup in 2001 and has over 20 years of experience in design and construction management. He is a registered professional engineer in four States and is a LEED Accredited Professional through the U.S. Green Building Council. Harriman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Old Dominion University.
