Old Dominion Surpasses CVC Goal; Winner Announced in Final Prize Drawing
Members of the campus community supported their favorite charitable organizations to the tune of $118,873 in the 2010 Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC), which concluded last month. The amount represents 102.48 percent of the university's $116,000 campaign goal. Nearly 700 Old Dominion employees made a contribution, and the average gift was $174.09.
"We wish to thank all employees who supported their favorite organizations as part of the campaign," said Karen Travis, assistant vice president for community engagement, who chaired ODU's CVC drive. "Historically, Old Dominion employees have given generously to the charitable organizations participating in the campaign. It's particularly gratifying to know that, even in tough times, our community comes together to help others in need.
"I congratulate the campus community on this outstanding effort and for continuing to proudly enhance ODU's reputation for generosity and caring."
The following campaign divisions exceeded their individual goals in the campaign: Academic Affairs Central, Administration and Finance, College of Sciences, Human Resources, Institutional Advancement, President's Office and Student Affairs. Human Resources also led the way in participation, with all of its employees contributing.
Shannon Taylor, a housekeeping worker with Housing Maintenance, won an ODU garment bag and duffle bag in the university campaign's final prize drawing. Morel Fry, administrative services librarian, won the first drawing. All employees who contributed to the campaign were entered in the drawings.
