ODU Professor Lutsyshyn to Perform Works of Kasparov at Chrysler Museum Event

Old Dominion University adjunct professor Oksana Lutsyshyn, a member of the Feldman Chamber Music Society, will perform as guest pianist with the Marcolivia String Duo Monday, Feb. 7, at the Chrysler Museum of Art's Kaufman Theatre. The duo, who play the violin and viola, are currently artists-in-residence at the Tokyo College of Music and routinely perform chamber music internationally.

The program will feature "Cadenza for LvB," composed by ODU associate professor of music Andrey Kasparov. The composition is based on select harmonic and melodic samples from Beethoven's Piano Trio in C Minor, Op. 1. Kasparov, who is known internationally for his concerts and recordings, is a graduate of the Moscow State Conservatory and Indiana University in Bloomington. His most recent CD releases on Albany Records include "Hommages Musicaux" and "Piano Music of Adolphus Hailstork."

Lutsyshyn has appeared in concerts as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the former Soviet Union, Europe, the United States and South America. Locally, she has performed for the Virginia International Arts Festival and the F. Ludwig Diehn Concert Series, and with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and numerous other concert presenters. She is a graduate of the Special Music School in Lviv, Ukraine, and the Moscow State Conservatory, having earned both master's and doctoral degrees.

Tickets for the Feb. 7 performance are $25 and can be purchased at the door or in advance at www.feldmanchambermusic.org.
