Horton-Parker Elected to Serve as President of Association for Adult Development and Aging

Radha Horton-Parker, associate professor of counseling and human services, has been elected president of the Association for Adult Development and Aging for 2012-13. The AADA, a division of the American Counseling Association, serves as a focal point for sharing, professional development and advocacy related to adult development and aging issues, and also addresses counseling concerns across the lifespan.

She will be president-elect in 2011-12 and currently serves as the AADA Awards Committee chair.

Chartered in 1986, AADA seeks to improve the standards of the professional service to adults of all ages by:

• Improving the skills and competence of American Counseling Association members;

• Expanding professional work opportunities in adult development and aging;

• Promoting the lifelong development and well-being of adults; and

• Promoting standards for professional preparation for counselors of adults across the lifespan.

AADA also develops partnerships with other organizations that hope to improve the standards for care of adults and older adults, and it publishes Adultspan Journal twice a year.
