The Green Canvas to Debut at Gordon Galleries Nov. 13
The Baron and Ellin Gordon Art Galleries at Old Dominion University will open "The Green Canvas: The Artist as Environmental Activist" with a reception at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13. The exhibition, which runs until Dec. 15, and the reception are free and open to the public.
The exhibition features graphic design works by prominent environmental artist and designer Ho Seob Yoon, known as the "Green Design Activist." He currently serves as a professor of art at Kookmin University's College of Design in Seoul, South Korea. For more than two decades, he has served as an art educator and incorporated environmental teachings into his work.
According to gallery curator Ramona Austin, Yoon presents this global issue to audiences in a highly accessible and enjoyable way. "His expressive playfulness should not prevent people from seeing the seriousness behind his work," she said. "Ho Seob Yoon demonstrates what we are struggling to deal with as global citizens and reminds us that our world matters."
The Gordon Galleries, located at 4509 Monarch Way, between 45th and 46th streets, are open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. For more information call 683-6271 or visit http://al.odu.edu/art/gallery/index.php.
