FTC Bureau of Competition Official Is Landmark Executive-in-Residence Speaker Nov. 4

Markus H. Meier, assistant director of the Health Care Division in the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Competition, will be the guest lecturer for the Landmark Executive-in-Residence Speaker Series at Old Dominion University on Thursday, Nov. 4. His talk begins at 12:30 p.m. in 1005 Constant Hall.

Meier, who received a master's degree in public administration from ODU, leads investigations and litigations involving alleged antitrust law violations by health-care professionals, hospitals, health plans and pharmaceutical companies.

Prior to joining the bureau, he was the special assistant U.S. attorney and resident adviser to the Indonesian Competition Commission in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The Executive-in-Residence speaker series is sponsored by Landmark Communications and ODU's College of Business and Public Administration. The program is free and open to university students, faculty and staff, and to the public as space permits. Lunch will be provided.

The series is designed to enrich students' entrepreneurial spirit, their awareness of the success that can be built on academic experience and their understanding of the importance of leading with integrity. It is dedicated to bringing accomplished business leaders, authors and internationally known speakers to campus to share their history and vision, giving students the opportunity to learn firsthand the strategies and experiences that forge great ethical global leaders.

Established in 2001, the series is funded by an endowment from a group of former Landmark Communications executives in honor of Frank Batten Sr., Landmark's founder and the first rector of the ODU Board of Visitors.
