M&S Expert from FBCET reports on NATO M&S Conference

The Research and Technology Organization of NATO established several panels to deal with special academic and research and development questions. The NATO Modeling & Simulation Group is one of these seven panels. This group conducts annual M&S conferences presenting peer-reviewed papers of general interest to NATO M&S experts. This year's Modeling and Simulation Group Conference (MSG-069) had the topic "Use of M&S in Support to Operations, Irregular Warfare, Defense against Terrorism, and Coalition Tactical Force Integration" and was conducted in Brussels, Belgium on 15 & 16 October 2009 at the Royal Military Academy. The audience included experts from NATO countries, Partners-for-Peace nations, as well as invited nations.

During the two days, 20 papers plus one invited paper and three keynotes were presented. For conferences of this size, a Technical Evaluator and Raporteur has to evaluate the papers and summarize the common recommendations and lessons learned in a technical report for the Research and Technology Organization. Andreas Tolk, Associate Professor for Engineering Management and Systems Engineering, was tasked to do this for the sixth time since he joint Old Dominion University, showing the confidence of NATO M&S groups in the expertise provided by us.
