Happy Holidays

Dear Colleagues, Alumni, Friends, Supporters and Staff of the Batten College:
 
Never before in history, have our lives been as intertwined with technology as we are today.

Clearly, engineers are at the forefront in making technology work, and work responsibly for humankind and the precious resources that the Earth offers.   The mission of the Batten College calls us precisely to this duty. 

The Batten College is continuously changing for the better: more academic programs, more distinguished faculty members, increased enrollments, increased quality and quantity of research and educational facilities.  This year, our students, faculty and staff had many wonderful accomplishments.  Just to cite a few, please look to the side bar and the few excerpts sampled from our newsletter, e-Interaction.

We couldn't have accomplished these and many others without you and our dedicated people at the Batten College.  We also starkly realized this year, that we are living in one of the worst economic crises in history.  As a result, our College had its share of consecutive budget cuts.  But we also believe that the funding for higher education has and will continue to change irreversibly.  Consequently, the sources of funds that we use to keep us running have changed, with increasing amounts coming from externally funded projects and the generosity of individuals and corporations who have increased our endowment. 

This is the Season to reflect on all that has happened in this year and appreciate those things for which we are most grateful.  We extend one more time our sincere thanks to all who have supported the Batten College in many different ways.  As we move on to 2010, I wish each and every one of you good health, happiness, and much success.
